We are delighted to announce that the winner of the 2024 BBC Young Musician – Ryan Wang – will make his debut in Parbold on 16th May 2026.
Ryan started playing the piano aged four and was only five when he performed his first solo recital at Carnegie Hall. He won the prestigious BBC Young Musician competition at the age of 17, and in the short time since has been snatched up by orchestras and concert halls around the world.
On Ryan’s performance of Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 at the Grand Final of the BBC Young Musician competition, judge Alison Balsom said: “Ryan Wang is a truly remarkable musician. He has an extremely rare ability to communicate something other-worldly – and embody the music. I don’t think even he understands quite how he does it! In the final it was abundantly clear to all of us that he was creating a kind of magic. … We felt we were witnessing one of the great historical performances of Rach 2.”
In Parbold he will perform Schubert’s Four Impromptus, Chopin’s Variations on La ci darem la mano and Mussorgsky’s mighty Pictures at an Exhibition.
